A tattoo deposit holds your confirmed appointment and covers the design work your artist does for it.
Your tattoo deposit and booking
Start by telling us your idea. An enquiry opens a conversation with an artist; it doesn't reserve a date. The artist will discuss the work with you and agree the price. Include the placement, approximate size and any useful references in your first message. If you have an artist in mind, name them so the enquiry reaches the right person.
Your booking is made when your artist confirms a date and you pay the deposit. Check the full booking terms before you book, including what happens if you need to move or cancel.
What the deposit covers
Your deposit secures the date, which means your artist turns other clients away from that time. It also pays for design work already done: a design can be discussed, sketched, drawn up or finished, and this applies to flash too.
The deposit is £70 for a minimum booking or half day, and £100 for a full day. It forms part of the agreed price: it comes off what you pay on the day, or rolls on to your next session. It is not an extra charge on top of the tattoo price.
Once booked, the deposit isn't refundable, including if you cancel altogether. Ask your artist if any part of the terms is unclear before you pay.
If you need to move the appointment
Plans can change. Send your artist a message as soon as you know you need a different date; notice counts from when they receive it. Here's how the standard notice rules work:
- With 48 hours' notice or more, you can move the appointment and the deposit moves with it.
- With less than 48 hours' notice, or if you don't turn up, the deposit is lost and you'll need a new one to rebook.
- A booking can be moved up to three times in a row. A fourth move counts as cancelling.
If you haven't chosen a replacement date, you can still send the message. Include the appointment you need to move and the reason for your request, then arrange a new date with your artist.
Illness, emergencies and our cancellations
If there's a genuine emergency or illness, we don't take the deposit; it moves to your new date. Tell your artist what has happened so you can arrange the next step together.
If we cancel, we never take your deposit. It can move to another appointment or we can give it back. Your artist will discuss the options with you.
Keep a record of your message
Message your artist through the site or email fortytwotattoo@gmail.com. Written notice gives both of you a record of the request and when it was received. Include enough detail to identify your appointment, and wait for your artist to confirm the new arrangement.
