Terms
These terms cover using fortytwotattoo.com and the Forty Two Tattoo app. By using the site you agree to them. They don’t affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Who we are
The site is run by Forty Two Tattoo Ltd, a private tattoo studio on the 2nd floor of Stag Works, 84 John Street, Sheffield S2 4QU. Email fortytwotattoo@gmail.com.
Age
You need to be 13 or over to look around the site. It’s against the law to tattoo anyone under 18, so you must be 18 or over to book, fill in a consent form or get tattooed. Your artist will check your photo ID before your appointment.
Your account
You sign in with your Google account. Keep it secure, because anyone who can get into it can see your chats and forms with us. If you think someone else has used it, sign out of every device from Settings and let us know. We can close an account that’s used to abuse our artists or other people, or to break the law.
Enquiries and bookings
Sending an idea or a message is an enquiry, not a booking. Your booking is made when your artist confirms a date with you and you pay the deposit. Your artist will agree the price of the tattoo with you.
Every artist decides which work they take on. They can turn down an idea, a placement or an appointment, including on the day if it isn’t safe to go ahead.
Deposits
Every booking needs a deposit:
- £70 for a minimum booking or a half day.
- £100 for a full day.
Your deposit is part of the price, not on top of it. It comes off what you pay on the day. If your tattoo takes more than one session, it rolls on to your next session.
A deposit pays for two things. First, it secures your date: once it’s booked, your artist keeps that time for you and turns other clients away. Second, it pays for the design work. By the time you book, your artist has already put time and thought into your tattoo. That’s true whether the design has only been talked about, discussed and sketched out, drawn up, or finished. The same applies to flash, where the design is already done and ready to go.
Because that time and work are already given to you when you book, deposits aren’t refundable once your booking is made. As long as you stick to the notice below, your deposit stays with your booking.
Cancelling or moving your appointment
- 48 hours’ notice or more: you can move your appointment to a new date and your deposit moves with it. Get in touch with your artist as soon as you know.
- Less than 48 hours’ notice, or not turning up: you lose your deposit. To book again, you’ll need to pay a new one.
- Moving again and again: you can move a booking up to three times in a row. If you need to move it a fourth time, we treat that as a cancellation and keep the deposit.
- Cancelling altogether: your deposit isn’t refunded, however much notice you give.
Notice counts from when your artist receives your message to the start time of your appointment. Message your artist through the site or email fortytwotattoo@gmail.com so there’s a record of when you told us.
Emergencies and illness
Life happens. If you can’t make it because of a genuine emergency or illness, we won’t take your deposit, even if it’s less than 48 hours’ notice. It moves to your new date. Just tell your artist as soon as you can.
If we have to cancel
We never take your deposit if we’re the ones cancelling or moving your appointment, for example because your artist is ill. We’ll always try to give you at least 48 hours’ notice too, though that isn’t always possible. Your deposit moves to your new date, or if you’d rather not rebook, we’ll give it back.
These aren’t meant as small print. We ask for them because when a booking falls through at short notice, the artist loses that day’s work and the design time they’ve already spent on you. By booking, you’re agreeing to work with us on that understanding.
Consent forms
Answer the health questions honestly and completely, and tell your artist if anything changes before your appointment. Your artist checks every form and goes through it with you. A tattoo is permanent and carries risks such as infection, allergic reaction and scarring; the form explains these and you agree to them when you sign. How we keep your form is set out in the privacy notice.
Artwork and photos
The designs, flash and photos on this site belong to the artists who made them. Please don’t copy, trace or sell them, or ask another studio to tattoo them. Flash marked as taken has already gone to someone else. If we post a photo of your tattoo, we’ll ask you first, and you can ask us to take it down at any time.
Using the site fairly
Don’t send anything abusive, threatening or unlawful, try to get into accounts or parts of the site that aren’t yours, or interfere with how the site works.
Advice on the site
The Guide and our aftercare advice are general information. They aren’t medical advice. If you’re worried about a reaction or how your tattoo is healing, contact your artist, and see a pharmacist, GP or NHS 111 if you need to.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we can’t promise it will always be up or error-free. We’re not responsible for losses that come from using the website itself. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit.
Changes
We may update these terms. The latest version is always on this page.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute.
